Dulverton, Exmoor - Damp Weekend in August!!!

Why is it that for the last 4 or 5 years August has been a complete let down, weather-wise',  for those of us that enjoy holidaying in the UK??  Maybe next year eh?

Living in Cornwall we try and head up onto one of the moors in August to escape the 'bucket and spade brigade', this year we chose Exmoor and the lovely Caravan Club campsite set in the heart of Dulverton, a small but traditional Somerset town.

Once again, we were hit by a constant mizzle/drizzle but it didn't deter us from enjoying the delights on our doorstep.

We found a pitch, set up and chilled out for the rest of the afternoon on site.  After a curry in the camper for our tea we nipped into town for a few pints in a couple of the local pubs.

After a night of heavy rain we woke up (very late!) on Saturday morning to the mizzle/drizzle again.  We wandered Paddy into town via the stream and back up around by the church before heading into a lovely tea-room for our lunch.

We then spent the rest of the afternoon and evening reading and chilling out in the camper (just what the weekend called for!).

Sunday morning and the weather had improved slightly (ie no mizzle/drizzle but still a severe lack of sunshine!) so before packing up and heading home we nipped into town and then walked Paddy back along the river.

On the way back to the campsite the ducks were just starting to wake up, along with some very late baby ducklings.

The campsite has recently been updated and now has two lovely brand new toilet/shower blocks.  It has to be one of our 'local' favourites which is why we use it so often.  I'm sure we'll be back again soon.

Our next trip is in a couple of weeks time, when we head off to Cheddar for 5 days followed by 2 nights staying near Tiverton.  We are all hoping to see an improvement to the weather - an Indian Summer maybe????
