Early May Bank Holiday - Exmouth and the Exe Estuary, East Devon

Sunday morning was again a clear blue sky day and warmer still.  We had taken our bikes this time, hoping for good weather, and knowing there was a bike path right outside the site.

The path was very well signposted and took us into Exmouth.  From Exmouth we biked along the Exe estuary to the pretty little village on Lympstone, where the locals hang their washing on the beach (well it is their back yard after all!).

Not wanting to risk Mike's dodgy (good) knee any further we returned to Exmouth from Lympstone where we had a picnic sat along the estuary watching the world go by and then a wander along the promenade.

On return to the end of the bike path by the campsite we then biked back down into Budleigh for a well deserved ice cream.

We spent our last evening on site again (resting Mike's knee before the drive home on Monday).

It really was a fantastic weekend.  We could not have wished for a better campsite or better weather.

We now have everything crossed for our next trip in less than 2 weeks time when we're off to the Cotswolds for 10 whole days!!

Early May Bank Holiday - Budleigh Salterton, East Devon

On Saturday morning we woke to clear blue skies so decided to walk down to the town and the beach, via a lovely park.  It only took 15/20 minutes from the site with the directions from the warden.

We found a hut on the beach selling drinks and sat outside in the glorious sunshine drinking coffee, talking to some locals.

From there we walked along the pebble beach to the eastern end and then back into town for a pub lunch.

We spent late afternoon/evening back on site sat outside in the sunshine, making the most of it!
