We got a taxi back to the campsite and spent our last evening on site with our friends and some others that visited that evening.

Dorset - September 2014 - Weymouth
After a quick breakfast we all decided to walk into Weymouth. On arrival it was packed full of people enjoying Water Fest. There were food stalls, bands, a tall ship and all sorts of things going on in the harbour. After a quick coffee in town we took a walk around the harbour area, with the hoards, down to Northe Forte Gardens before walking back into town for Sunday lunch. After lunch we walked down the other side of the harbour to the viewing tower. Our friends were brave enough to go up but we declined!!! We kept our feet firmly on land and watched the catamaran leave port for Guernsey.

Dorset - September 2014 - Fleet Lagoon Sunrise
We were up really early on Sunday morning and it looked as though it was going to be another beautiful day. We decided to sneak in an early morning walk around the lagoon to watch the sunrise before having breakfast and walking into Weymouth for the day.
Dorset - September 2014 - Portland
On Saturday morning we were up early ready for our bike ride directly from the site, along the all new cycle paths they now have in and around Weymouth, onto the Isle of Portland. Our friends had decided to visit the Dorset County Show that day so it was just the two of us.
It was a very misty, overcast morning but very warm and the sun was trying to burn through.
We stopped off at various viewpoints on Portland including one that looks across to Chesil Beach. Once at Portland Bill we sat outside the Lobster Pot where we had our lunch overlooking the lighthouse.
By now the sun had come out and it was really warm.....luckily it was all downhill on the way back! We stopped off at Sandsfoot Castle, which sits overlooking both Weymouth and Portland on the Rodwell Trail. We had a lovely locally made ice cream here before heading back to the campsite.
That evening all four of us biked into the local village for a few drinks and our evening meal at the Lugger Inn (and excellent it was too). We had managed 27 miles on our bike that day, plus the odd few there and back to the pub so an early night was very welcome!

It had felt a long time between camper trips from early July to early September so we were more than ready for this holiday!
The August weather had not been brilliant so we hadn't expected it to perk up, but it did, the day we left for our first campsite of three, East Fleet Farm just outside Weymouth. We'd stayed here before so knew how lovely it was, and its position sat right on the edge of the Fleet Lagoon.
Our friends had booked the same site, also for 3 nights, and they arrived soon after us. We all pitched up and had a bite to eat and then had a wander around the lagoon and into the nearest village of Chickerell for a few afternoon pints. That evening we ordered a Chinese takeaway, delivered to the site!
