Soon we were on the move to our next campsite, just a short 7 mile drive from Glastonbury to Wells, a lovely cathedral city.
Other than the strong winds the weather was kind again. Blue and sunny, just right for a walk into the city once we'd pitched up.
We had a pub lunch and then had a walk around the Bishops Palace and cathedral area of the city.
We spent a second day in Wells. The day was less sunny but dry so we walked into the city again and spent the day walking around the weekly farmers market and the craft fair. We enjoyed a lovely pub lunch that day before walking back to the campsite where we spent the rest of our time chilling out!
Our second day in Glastonbury couldn't have been any different from the first. We woke up to lovely blue skies so after breakfast we put on our walking boots and walked into Glastonbury via the public footpath directly from the campsite.
After a short walk around the town we caught the bus to Street where we had lunch and did a bit of shopping in Clarks Village (well, Mike did!), before returning to the campsite that evening. The winds were still very strong and had us up at 6am the next day to check that the bike cover hadn't blown into Glastonbury!
The back end of March was soon here (where does the time go?) and Bessy was all sorted and ready for her maiden trip.
We left home the Sunday before Easter in driving rain and almost gale force winds, a proper christening for the new girl!
Our first 2 nights were spent at Old Oaks, a stunning adults only site just outside Glastonbury.
Once pitched up on Sunday afternoon it had stopped raining, so not to be deterred by the strong winds we decided to walk up Glastonbury Tor! That was an experience I can tell you. Once we got to the top you couldn't walk against the wind! It all added to the fun! We spent that evening warming up in Bessy!!!
We picked up our new motorhome yesterday, Saturday 7th March.
The day wasn't without its hitches! After getting up at 6am ready to hit the road an hour later up to Somerset (or so we had planned) Daisy, our Dakota, decided NOT to start! After attempting a jump start from Mike's truck (unsuccessful) we plugged her into the power and waited for her to charge! Finally at 7:15am she fired up! Luckily the local roads and M5 were quiet and we made good time up to our dealer.
The handover was smooth and friendly (we even had bacon sarnies and coffee on our arrival - now that's what I call service!) and we were back home with BESSY by 1pm.
Mike spent the rest of the day polishing her with 'showroom shine', to give her paint a bit of protection from the sea air down here and the birds in the garden!!!
We're really pleased with her so far and now the hard work starts to fill her up with all the things we need (or don't as the case maybe?!) ready for our maiden trip on 29th March when we head back to Somerset for 8 nights.
