On Sunday morning we were up and ready for the long trip north to our first stop in the Lake District. We had stayed on the Keswick Camping & Caravan Club site back in 2010 so we knew the views were stunning if you were lucky enough to get a good pitch.
We arrived before 1pm (the sites strict arrival time!) and joined the queue with the other early arrivals. The site is very well organised with one warden seeing in each unit, asking you to book in at reception, and then a second warden bikes you around the site to give you a choice of pitches. We were lucky enough to be given the choice of two pitches both with views of Derwentwater, so we happily pitched up for the next 3 nights!
After pitching up we strolled into Keswick and found a lovely Cumbrian pub where we had a Sunday roast and a pint. We then had a walk (and an ice cream) through Hope Park and down to the Keswich Launch before walking back to the site to spend the evening relaxing with those views!!
Finally our next big trip of the year had arrived. We were both really looking forward to heading north to the lovely Lake District again. Although we had been 2 years go, it wasn't in Bessy but a cottage. Our last camper trip to the Lakes was way back in 2010!!
Due to the travelling distance between home and the Lakes we had booked to stay on a great adults only site near Cheltenham on the way up (and back). After a trip to our motorhome dealer to check out a leaky tap (that didn't play up when they looked at it, typically!) we arrived on site early afternoon and spent the rest of the day relaxing.
On Saturday we caught the bus (from right outside the site) into Gloucester for a wander around the docks. We followed part of the 'Piggy Trail' that they currently have in the city and came across many different shapes and sizes!
From there we caught the bus back to the site, had a shower and changed, and then caught another bus into Cheltenham for the afternoon. It was a lovely warm and sunny day and very, very busy in Cheltenham.
On Saturday morning the skies were grey but it didn't deter us, we were up early ready for our walk into Woolacombe via the pretty coastal village of Mortehoe.
Once we arrived in Woolacombe we rewarded ourselves with a lovely full English breakfast and coffee before having a wander around.
Again, we cheated and got the bus back to the site in the afternoon (it was uphill all the way after all!).
We spent the afternoon packing up ready to head home after our short break.
Our next booked trip isn't that far away (thankfully). In just a few short weeks we will be heading north for a week in the Lake District.
