Cornwall September 2013 - Carnon Downs

On Tuesday morning we decided to leave the campsite on the Lizard a day early, as it really wasn't for us, although the area is absolutely stunning.  We had no idea where we would end up but after a little bit of research and map reading we decided to head to Carnon Downs near Truro in the hope that the campsite would have a pitch free.  We were lucky!  Although they were almost full we had the choice of 2 pitches.  We had to opt for grass again but it wasn't a problem as it had stayed dry and the ground was hard and level.   What a complete difference to the last campsite, 5* and absolutely spotless.  We had stayed there a few times before so we knew what to expect.

After setting up and having a quick bite to eat we got the bikes out and had a ride from the site along the beautiful creek at Penpol along to Loe Beach (a 17% gradient road down hill - it was hard going on the way back up!).

From there we rode through the pretty village of Feock, famous for its church having the church tower separate from the actual church building.  We biked back along the tiny lanes beside the creek to Devoran and then back to the site where we spent the evening in the camper.
