On Monday morning our time in the New Forest had come to an end all too quickly. We had a short walk before packing up and heading off to our next campsite near Devizes, alongside the lovely Kennet & Avon canal. We arrived at lunchtime, pitched up and had lunch sat under the tree on our pitch giving us much needed shade.
Later in the day we walked along the canal to the pub, the Barge Inn, and had a meal and a few drinks whilst watching the barges come and go. It was a stunning afternoon/evening.
The next morning we were up early again and after breakfast decided to walk into Devizes from the site, along the canal passing the famous Caen Hill Locks. It was another really warm day so we didn't hurry! From the locks we walked into the town for a drink and to pick up some supplies for another BBQ (you have to make the most of this weather after all!). On the way back we called into the little tearooms at the top of the locks at Caen Hill for a light lunch and a drink before walking back to the campsite. We spent the rest of the afternoon and evening on site, watching England win their world cup game that evening! #itscominghome
Wednesday was a bit overcast (phew, what a relief!) but still fairly warm so we decided not to bike but to catch the bus into Bath for a wander. Once in the city we walked around the 'touristy' places to take some photos (even saw and heard a juvenile peregrine falcon on the rooftops!) then had a pub lunch before getting the bus back to the site. We spent our last evening on site and enjoyed a lovely walk along the canal in the beautiful evening light.
