Unfortunately Paddy hurt one of his back legs on Saturday and wouldn't put it to the ground, so we left him in a very well ventilated camper (sleeping!!!) and walked to Hardraw where there's a famous pub (The Green Dragon) with a waterfall in the rear 'garden'!!! Hardraw Force is well worth the £2 per person fee to access the grounds from the pub. Due to the lack of rain over the previous few weeks or so (and we're certainly NOT complaining!) the waterfall wasn't a 'force' more of a pleasant trickle!!! Still well worth going and the walk to Hardraw from Hawes was full of stunning Dales scenery.

Hi, just linked through from an old posting about canal side camp sites. The following is an absolute jem. It is completely unique I can assure you and one not to be missed if you are anywhere in the vacinity! The Anchor near High Offley in Staffordshire has been run by the same family forever and a day. The toilets are somewhat rustic (with swallows nesting every year)but it somehow only seems to add to its rustic charm. The old pub sits right by the tow path with beautiful flower displays filling the garden in the summer months. The pub itself is truly unspoilt complete with well worn settles wonky tables and some of the ale still brought up from the sellar in a jug. You may even be treated to one of the many impromtue saturday night music sessions.
