Lydford on Dartmoor - June 2013 - The Granite Way

On Saturday morning we awoke to glorious blue skies and knew it would be a good day!

For the first time we had transported our new electric assisted bikes on the back of the camper so were determined to use them, complete with Paddys trailer connected to the back of Mike's bike.

After breakfast we set them all up, made a picnic and headed off onto the Granite Way, a cycle path that runs approximately 11 miles from Lydford (just outside the campsite) to Okehampton, along the old railway line with a small on-road section through the pretty Devon village of Bridestowe.

Paddy got lots of attention of course and he had a really good day!

On the way we crossed both viaducts, at Lake and Meldon and the views over the countryside were just stunning.

We stopped off on the way back for our picnic sat on granite benches overlooking more beautiful Devon countryside.  It really is a lovely part of the West Country.

We got back to the campsite mid afternoon and our friends has turned up and set up on the pitch next to us!  That evening we had a BBQ on site together before heading down to the local for a pint or two to finish off a fantastic day!
