Stunning Shrewsbury - September 2016

We always look forward to our September holiday, even though it's normally the last 'big trip' of the year, as we seem to be really lucky with the weather.  I am very happy to report that this year was no exception either!  It turned out to be the hottest September week for over 50 years and over our 10 day trip we only had about 2 hours of daylight drizzly rain!

Our first 2 nights were spent on a beautiful campsite (Oxon Hall) just outside the town of Shrewsbury, somewhere we'd not been before.

We had booked a pitch in the adults only section of the park and although it was very busy it was also very peaceful.  We spent the first afternoon walking to one of the 'local' pubs for a late lunch before spending the evening on the campsite.  The next day we caught the park and ride bus (just outside the site) into town for the day where we did a boat trip to get our bearings and then walked to the places we'd spotted from the boat.  We had lunch in town before returning to the campsite for a Chinese takeaway (again situated just outside the site and recommended by the wardens).
