We stayed on the Caravan Club site, which was lovely. Our pitch had views of Skirrid, although the mist and rain was definitely rolling in! There's was a fantastic little dog walk on site right alongside the river that Paddy enjoyed. There's a local pub about 5 minutes walk from the site too, really handy for our last night away! We spent the evening there.
The rain started in Pandy at about 6pm, and it was torrential at times. We got back from the pub and finally tucked ourselves up in bed at about 11pm......and it was still raining. By midnight we were still awake and getting pretty concerned about the river on the edge of the site as the rain was still hammering down on our roof! We both 'cat-napped' for a few hours until it had stopped raining. We were up at 6am, hoping that everyone was still pitched where they started and thankfully we had all survived! The river was very, very high but had not breached. The rain had finally given up by then too so we crept around the site quietly and packed up. We left the site just before 8:30am and had a safe trip home.
We all had a thoroughly relaxing and wonderful time in Wales. The campsites we had chosen were all excellent and the people we met and talked too were warm and friendly. West Wales is a relatively undiscovered area for us but I have no doubts that we'll be back.
Our next trip is just a few weeks away, so holiday blues won't quite feel so bad this time (we hope!). We're doing Slimbridge, Devizes, Poole and Budleigh Salterton in early July and hoping that the weather will be kind enough for us to get out and about on our bikes.
