South Devon - June 2014 - Kingswear to Paignton Steam Railway

Before our trip we had researched the local area and come across the 'Jubilee Pass', a pre-paid ticket that allows unlimited travel on things such as the steam train, boat trips, passenger ferries and some buses.  We decided to buy a two-day pass (£28 each adult) and catch the steam train from Kingswear to Paignton on the Friday.

We were up early and the sun was shining, so we walked from the site down to Kingswear (2.5 miles according to the sign outside the site), first approaching the mouth of the estuary with a small selection of boats, then the station and Kingswear itself overlooking Dartmouth.

We caught the first steam train from Kingswear to Paignton after having a coffee at the station.  It has to be one of the most beautiful steam train journeys in the UK, hugging the coastline for a large part of the trip.

I love those coloured houses - I'd have to live in the red one, it's my all-time favourite colour :)
