Having enjoyed 'blogging' photos and stories from our trips motorhoming over the last 12 years I didn't want to give it up just because we no longer own a motorhome.  We still go on holiday as much as ever after all!

So, to that end, I have started a new blog......called Home and Away.

I will continue to blog about our trips and this time anything local too!

The link is - https://budehomeandaway.blogspot.com/

I hope you all continue to follow our travels, both home and away!

SOLD our motorhome - no more motorhome tales!!!

We've sold our motorhome!!!!

It was a long thought out and hard decision but due to various reasons, the main one being the state of Mike's dodgy knees and the difficulty of driving long distances, we have sold our motorhome.

We've been very keen motorhomers for the last 12 years and have loved every minute of it, making lots of great friends along the way, who we'll still be in touch with however we holiday in the future!

We had the whole experience of the all year round season, especially loving our trips over Christmas and New Year.

This blog has been updated regularly and will remain a part of our history online, forever, along with our previous blog -

Thank you one and all for being on the journey with us and for continuing to read our updates, it has been a blast, but it was time to hang up the chocks!!

Take care,
Kernow Camper

South Devon - July 2018

On Thursday morning it was time to move on again, to our last campsite in south Devon.

We'd stayed at Hillhead (between Brixham and Kingswear) many times in the past and always been lucky to find a nice pitch with a partial sea view and this time was no different.  When we arrived on site the wardens were cutting hedges on a particular pitch we had our eye on, so after a short conversation with them we bagged it and waited for them to finish.  Once set up we had lunch sat outside, where we spent the rest of the afternoon.  We had another BBQ that evening!!

Friday morning we woke up to another stunning day so caught the bus down into Brixham for a wander around the beautiful  harbour side.

Whilst in Brixham we discovered that there was a ferry from the harbour to Torquay.  It was only £2 each (single) so we bought our tickets and wandered around by the fishing boats to catch it. It was a half hour trip and well worth the money.  On arrival into Torquay we headed to the pub for a drink and then picked up some sandwiches that we ate in the gardens by the big wheel.

After our picnic lunch we caught the bus into Paignton where we had an ice cream (sadly I only got to eat half of mine as a resident, hungry seagull pinched the rest!!) and a walk around to the harbour and along the seafront.  From there we caught the bus back to the campsite for the evening, where we enjoyed a lovely meal in the on site bar/restaurant and watched the football on the big screen sat outside the bar.

Saturday was our last full day so not wanting to waste it, we caught the bus from the campsite down into Kingswear where we took the ferry across to Dartmouth for a coffee and a walk around the town and waterside.

From Dartmouth we caught the ferry back across to Kingswear and then the bus into Brixham again for a last wander.  The weather was perfect again.

From Brixham we caught the bus back to the campsite and had lunch in the on site restaurant, as it had been so good the night before.  That afternoon we watched the football, had a shower and then decided to pack up and travel home that evening instead of the next morning, mainly due to the fact it was cooler and while the second football match was on it was much quieter on the roads!

We could not have wished for better weather for this trip.  We now have just over 8 weeks to wait until our next booked trip, due to school holidays (a time we avoid campsites) and the difficulty of travelling in and out of Cornwall (again due to school holidays!).  I'm not sure we'll last that long so watch this space!!!
