A Wet Summer - Gloucester-Sharpness Canal, Slimbridge

After an evening in the pub, sampling the local cider and perry, we had a lay-in on Saturday morning and then decided to have a walk up the towpath while it was dry with our friends to the Cambridge Arms swing bridge.  While we were there we saw a narrow boat approaching the bridge, the warden came out and opened the bridge (all done manually!) and with us all gawping at them, they broke down!!!  They managed to drift towards the edge where the warden threw them ropes and moored them up safely.  It seems that their propeller had been clogged up with some kind of weed.  It made for an interesting 'nose' for us all!

After wandering back to the site we spent the afternoon chilling out (getting rid of my hangover!) while our friends visited the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust.

We met up again that evening in the pub but I made sure I had less to drink!!
