Christmas & New Year 2014 - Truro

For our last full day at Carnon Downs we decided to walk into Truro again, as our during our last trip the month before it was aborted!  It was another beautiful blue, crisp, dry cold day and perfect for our walk.  The city was bustling with sale shoppers.  We spent the whole day there before heading back to the site on the bus!

Christmas & New Year 2014 - Falmouth

It was soon time to say goodbye to St Ives and we were on our way to Carnon Downs just outside Truro (the site we'd stayed at in November when Mike had his gout attack!).  This time we had no problems, in fact we had a great pitch for 3 nights and great weather (cold, crisp, sunny days).

Once pitched up we had a wander into the village, to the local garden centre and then to the pub for a late lunch!

The next morning we were up early ready to catch the bus to Falmouth for the day, where we walked around to the docks and up onto the headland to do the moat walk around Pendennis castle.  The views over to St Mawes were stunning and there were lots of early flowering plants in this mild part of Cornwall.

Christmas & New Year 2014 - St Ives

On Christmas Eve it was time to head down to St Ives for our annual Christmas and New Year camping trip.

We arrived on site around lunchtime and after lunch spent a few hours making the camper look festive.  Later that afternoon we walked into St Ives where we spent the rest of the afternoon and evening with our camping neighbours from the campsite, who we bumped into in one of the pubs!

On Christmas Day we had a short walk into town and back before spending a few hours sat outside (yes, outside in the sunshine...in December!) drinking Prosecco, again with our neighbours.  We cooked our lunch in the camper and enjoyed that later in the afternoon.

We also spent Boxing Day in St Ives and enjoyed a lovely walk into town (once the rain had stopped!) and a nice meal.  That evening, and into the early hours of the next morning, the wind picked up big time and it was wild up on that cliff top but thankfully that was the only 'bad' weather we had during the whole of our 10-day trip!
