On Monday morning, after breakfast, we caught the bus down to Kingswear with the intention of buying our Jubilee Pass. This is a 2, 3 or 5 day pass that allows you unlimited travel on the steam train, ferries across to Dartmouth, boat trips and some buses. We opted for the 3 day pass at £37 each which turned out to be great value for money. Once our tickets were purchased we caught the first train to Paignton where we had lunch and a walk around the town. It was a bit of a misty, drizzly morning but the sun came out in the afternoon for our trip on the train back to Kingswear. We then caught the ferry over to Dartmouth for a walk around the gardens and a brew sat outside people watching! Our evening was spent on site watching the birds coming to our feeder.

South Devon - July 2016 - Brixham
We always have a trip early July to avoid school holidays and to enjoy the warm summer weather that should have arrived by then?! Well, how lucky were we again!
We had cut our trip slightly due to Mike's work commitments so instead of leaving on a busy Friday we left home on a quiet Sunday and it worked out very well.
We arrived on site (Hillhead CC site, near Brixham) late morning and were able to check in and choose our pitch. We picked a nice secluded hardstanding with a sea glimpse where we were to spend the next five nights. We don't usually stay on one site that long but we'd stayed before so knew it was good and knew there were plenty of things to do in and around the area without moving our motorhome!
That afternoon we caught the bus into Brixham for a wander around the harbour and town. The weather was glorious and really warm. On return to the site we had a BBQ sat outside that evening.
