All too soon it was Sunday morning and time to pack up and head home but not before and early morning walk on Porth beach and up onto Porth Island.
We'd had another lovely long weekend away and we were lucky with the weather again.
We're hoping to get away again, somewhere local, towards the end of October.
Saturday was another lovely day, although very windy which made it a bit cooler. We were up bright and early so that we could walk into Newquay to spend the day just mooching around!
We walked around the coast path and down into the harbour and then had lunch in town.
That evening we had an Indian takeaway delivered to the site (best in Cornwall!).
As the extended Indian summer continued to delight us all we decided to have a weekend away locally. We'd not booked anything but called Porth Beach Touring Park (one of our very regular local campsites) the day before we left, just to confirm that pitches were available.
We arrived late morning, pitched up alongside the stream, had lunch and then headed off out for the afternoon. We did a fantastic walk from Porth to Watergate Bay and back all along the stunning coast path. It was very warm too and both the coast path and beaches were pretty busy with people, like us, enjoying the last of the good weather!
That evening we enjoyed a lovely meal in the pub on the beach (The Mermaid).
After a wonderful warm, sunny, perfect 8 days in Dorset we were up very early on Saturday morning.......we had plans! After stopping off for breakfast we arrived at the motorhome show at Shepton Mallett early morning. We spent 5 hours wandering around the new 2015 models and ended up ordering a new motorhome!!!! Due to some parking issues at home, and now there's only two of us, we knew we needed to downsize slightly. Not wanting to lose our fixed bed we opted for a lovely new Auto Trail Tracker FB with lots of gadgets!!! We don't get him until March 2015 as we wanted it on a 15 plate. We now have almost 6 months to wait but still have Daisy to use between now and then.
Our next booked trip is Christmas and New Year, however that doesn't mean we won't be away again between now and then. Watch this space!
Friday, and our last full day. We had been so very lucky with the weather and Friday was no exception. We awoke to glorious blue skies and again it was very warm. Dad and Sue had stayed in Lyme Regis for the night so we walked from the campsite into Lyme to spend the day with them (we caught the bus back - it's very hilly you know!). We met up and all walked along the prom, had a coffee stop, and then walked around the famous Cobb. There were so many people about, walking, drinking coffee, sat on the beach, all watching the world go by on a stunning day. We had lunch in Lyme together, sat outside the Rock Point Inn on their sun terrace overlooking Lyme Bay.
We spent the evening on site, resting after a busy walking and biking week!
