Slimbridge - June 2016

After two absolutely fantastic days in the Cotswolds we were on the move again.  This time we headed south to stay on a site in Slimbridge, on the Gloucester & Sharpness canal.  We've stayed many times before and always enjoy the walks and the local pub.

The afternoon we arrived was overcast and muggy, so we had a short walk along the canal and then a pint in the pub before heading back to the site where we spent the afternoon and evening sat outside Bessy.  We had a very friendly robin who kept coming back for seed once we'd put it out. We even had another BBQ!

Our second day at Slimbridge was again very hot, but overcast and muggy!  We had planned on walking to Frampton along the canal but missed the turn off for the village!  We're so pleased we did as we ended up further along the canal at Saul Junction and marina, and lovely it was too.  We had a drink in a café alongside the canal and a wander down to the marina before heading back via Frampton village where we had a picnic lunch sat by one of the many swing bridges still in use.   It seemed a very long walk back in the heat so we were grateful of a cool shower on return to the site before heading to the pub that evening for a lovely 2 course meal.

I love robins, they always seem such cheeky characters - and the colour of that dragonfly is gorgeous.
