Wales July 2015 - Tredegar

July usually means a 'big' trip and this July was no exception.  We try and visit a different part of Wales each year (as there is so much to do!) and this year we chose Pembrokeshire.  We'd done a very small part of this beautiful county over the years but not been as far afield as we had planned for this trip.

To break up the trip a bit we had an overnight stop over at the lovely Caravan Club site at Tredegar.  It's not a bad run from home and is easy to find, just being off the M4 and is right in the middle of Tredegar Park where there are walks around the park, lake and along the stream.  We had stayed here previously and had already done the NT house and gardens there but enjoyed our wander around the park before chilling out on site with a BBQ that evening.

Bristol - June 2015

Saturday was our last full day in the city. It had been raining overnight (not that we heard much!) and was very overcast and drizzly in the morning.  Not that it stopped us of course.  We walked into the city again and this time went to the Old City, a lovely area full of really old buildings (including the market).  We then ventured into one of the many shopping centres for a coffee before heading back out to explore the harbour area where we had a picnic lunch sat along the harbour side before catching a water taxi back to the site.  We spent an hour or so on site and then walked back into the city across the other side of the water (where you get a much better view of the SS Great Britain).  We then found a lovely Indian restaurant for our meal that evening in Hotwells.

Another great weekend away.  We are only sorry that we hadn't used the site before, as we'd love to go back to Bristol.  There is so much to see and do, we hardly scratched the surface and we walked miles!

Pembrokeshire is calling in a few weeks time.  Hope the summer has arrived to stay by then.  Keep everything crossed for us!

Bristol - June 2015

Friday was an overcast morning but still very warm.  We were up and about early ready to explore more of the city.  Once again we walked in along the waterside.  We walked through the park, past the cathedral and onto our first stop the Cabot Tower that sits high above the city overlooking it.  Neither of us are great with heights so weren't brave enough to climb the tower for the view from the top!!!  From there we headed to the museum side of the city (where we spotted a Banksy!) for a much needed coffee.  We then walked around the science museum area where we spent the rest of the day mooching around before wandering back to the site for the afternoon and evening (which we spent in the pub next to the site with some fellow Auto Trailers who had pitched opposite us!).

Bristol - June 2015

Two weekends in a row away, not unheard of but quite rare (although I for one would like to change that!).

We had pre-booked the Bristol CC site (Baltic Wharf) back in December 2014, knowing it's the only way to get into this very popular little site.  It hasn't helped this year as it's sadly due to close at the end of August (the local council seem to think that a new primary school will bring in more money for the local economy???!!).

We arrived late afternoon to lovely, warm sunshine and once pitched up we had a quick bite to eat and then walked into the city along the waterfront (the site provide a 'back gate' right onto the waterfront at Baltic Wharf).  It was a lovely evening and the city was packed, full of people sat outside eating, drinking, socialising and generally enjoying the great weather.
