North Devon - October 2013 - Mortehoe and Woolacombe

Having booked the lovely CC site at Willingcott, near Woolacombe some while back for early October how lucky were we with the weather again (for most of our break!)?

Just a short hour or so trip for us from Bude and we arrived on site at noon, at the same time as our camping pals, to find it almost empty.  Too much choice is sometimes not a good thing!!!  We pitched up once and then decided to move after having a mooch around the site.  Once finally sorted, we had lunch, helped our friend put up his inflatable awning (how easy was that?!) and set up our bikes ready for a short trip into Mortehoe and Woolacombe.

The black clouds were looming but it stayed dry for all of our ride.   We rode through the pretty village of Mortehoe, stopping off to see the view from the graveyard (now that's what I call a plot with a view) and then down the steep hill into Woolacombe where we continued up onto Marine Drive that overlooks the bay.

Once back on site and showered the BBQ was lit!!!  Yes, we BBQ'd in October.  Although it was mild it did rain.  It was OK for us snuggled up in the awning but not for the chef!!!  A good, social evening was had by all.
